Calina Dwarf Papaya is a tropical papaya producing large (up to 2.5kg), sweet tasting fruit. Growing up to 1.5m, they are suited for growing in large containers or in the ground (we recommend inside a green house)
These can be grown outside in the warmer parts of NZ however they need to be planted intentionally and with care. Plant in free-draining, compost rich soil, in a very sheltered position. Ideal spots include against water tanks, next to a block/brick wall, under soffit of house. They can also be grown in pots and bought in for the winter. It is essential that these plants are in a warm, sunny spot, free draining soil and protected from wind and cold. They are very frost sensitive so will need to be protected from frost.
These are perfect if you have a green house (North Island)
