A cone shaped shrub with shallow roots growing 3-4m, evergreen with very glossy green leaves, white flowers in spring with jasmine scent. Self fertile. Grow indoors as a specimen or outside in the tropical garden. The coffee cherries start off green and trun bright red for Christmas changing to brown when ripe in late summer. Once ripe, remove the fruit from the cherries by drying in the sun then de-husk them to reveal the green bean.  For the adventurous, the green bean can then be roasted to make your morning cuppa. 
A bit delicate, protect them from frost and full sun. Keep moist and feed well. They need warm conditions and good protection from the wind.
